Whether you are experiencing problems with your sight or in need of a routine check, Dixons Opticians based in Lincoln and Sleaford has fully qualified optometrists who are able to conduct thorough eye examinations to establish the standard of your eyesight and the health of your eyes. We'll look for early signs of cataracts, glaucoma, Macular Degeneration as well as many more eye conditions. Problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure and vascular disease can also be detected, as the eye can give clues to general health as well as potential eye conditions.
We provide Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT Scanner) to check in extreme detail for many different eye conditions.
Using our state of the art 3D Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT) scanning machine, a cross sectional 2 dimensional image is generated and analysed to then provide a 3 dimensional image of the back of your eye . It's a painless and non-invasive technique that takes only a few seconds per eye and the image is stored so that your eye can be monitored for changes in the future.
The OCT scanner is particularly important in determining potentially devastating eye conditions such as Macula Degeneration and Glaucoma.
Dry eye syndrome is a condition where the eyes do not make enough tears, or the tears evaporate too quickly. This can lead to the eyes drying out and becoming inflamed. It is a common condition and becomes more common with age, especially in women. Up to a third of people age 65 or older may have dry eye syndrome. It is more common in those with connective tissue disorders, in blepharitis and contact lens wearers.
80% of dry eyes are due to the tears evaporating too quickly. The majority of the time this is due to a problem with the lids and lashes. Blepharitis, which is inflammation of the eyelids can cause sore, red and swollen eyes. We now have the option of using BlephEx. This is a fairly new procedure for blepharitis and dry eye symptoms.
BlephEx™ reduces scurf and bacterial debris, the main causes of inflammatory lid disease, and improves the overall health of the eyelid.
Dixons Opticians offer a comprehensive contact lens fitting service. To new customers we offer a free lens trial service, after an initial one off consultation fee you can try as many different lenses whilst having as many appointments as required until you have found the right lens for you.
Once lens design is established you may want to go onto our monthly direct debit scheme to spread the costs evenly throughout the year, if enrolled on this scheme there is no further charge for your routine contact lens consultations.
Of course for those who want their lenses on a more occasional basis just come in and order them as and when needed, paying as you go.
Regular Sight Testing for children is of up most importance to monitor for potential health issues as well as ensuring that the best possible visual correction is being provided where required.
The NHS provides free sight tests to under 16s and under 19s in full time education, as well as a voucher to cover most if not all of the cost of spectacles.
During your examination we can check people for colour vision defects, inspecting even closer where children are involved. There are a number of ways of checking on this, a common technique we use would be the Ishihara test.
Dixons Opticians are proud to be in a position to offer a service that many opticians cannot, which is our on site spectacle laboratory manned by our fully qualified technician. This enables us to offer a same day service on many single vision pairs of specs. Also for those people who wish to re-glaze their frames, mostly you need only be without your specs for about an hour whilst new lenses are edged into your frames.
A frame repair service is also on offer.
